How to install & uninstall Cold War modes on PlayStation, Xbox, & PC

Liam Mackay

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War allows players to choose which parts of the game they wish to have installed.

Black Ops Cold War has a total file size upwards of 90GB depending on your platform. As updates increase the game’s file size, it’s likely the game will be taking up a large portion of your hard drive. Activision has offered players the option of which elements of the game they want to install, or uninstall, to free up hard drive space.

Players will have the choice of installing the Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, Dead Ops Arcade, and High-Resolution Texture Packs. Here’s how to manage each component on your platform.

Xbox One / Series X|S

Once you have installed the game and your choice of game modes, modes can be easily managed from the Black Ops Cold War’s menu.

If you wish to install or uninstall certain modes a later date, here’s how:

  1. Launch Black Ops Cold War.
  2. Click the Right Stick Button while on the Main Menu to pull up File Management.
  3. From this menu, select which modes you want to install or uninstall.
  4. Select ‘Yes’ to install or uninstall the selected mode.
  5. The mode will now be installed/uninstalled on your Xbox.

PlayStation 4 & 5

The process is the same for PlayStation as it is for Xbox.

Simply follow these instructions:

  1. Launch Black Ops Cold War.
  2. Click R3 while on the Main Menu to pull up File Management.
  3. From this menu, select which modes you want to install or uninstall.
  4. Select ‘Yes’ to install or uninstall the selected mode.
  5. The mode will now be installed/uninstalled on your PlayStation.

PC (battle.net)

When first installing Black Ops Cold War on Battle.net, you will be met with the option of what modes you wish to install.

If you want to go back and install or uninstall different modes, follow this list:

  1. Launch the Battle.net website.
  2. Select Black Ops Cold War under ‘Partner Games’.
  3. Click Options, then select Modify Install from the drop-down list.
  4. Select Modify Install under Game Content.
  5. Choose which modes you want to be installed or uninstalled.

Now you can decide exactly what Black Ops Cold War game modes you have on your hard drive.
