Weapon inspection is a classic Call of Duty feature that was missing from Vanguard at launch. However, the setting finally arrived in the Season 2 update, so here’s how to inspect your weapon in both Vanguard and Warzone.

With Call of Duty’s long-time focus on skins and cosmetics, the weapon inspect feature is a great tool to get a good look at your Blueprints or Mastery Camos. Simply press a button and your Operator will hold the weapon in the air, twirl it around, and sometimes inspect the magazine.

The feature wasn’t there in Vanguard at launch but arrived as part of the Season 2 update. The content won’t unlock until February 14th, but you can start inspecting your weapon as soon as the update is downloaded.

Here’s how you can inspect your weapon in both Warzone and Vanguard.

Vanguard’s Season 2 update has gone live and it’s finally added weapon inspects to the game. The season’s content such as maps and Battle Pass won’t launch until February 14, but the weapon inspect ability has already arrived.

Here’s how to inspect your weapon in Call of Duty: Vanguard:

  • On an Xbox or PlayStation controller, hold Left on the D-Pad
  • On a mouse and keyboard, press the ‘I’ key

You can always change the mouse and keyboard keybind by opening up the settings. Here’s what to do:

  1. Open up ‘Settings’ in CoD: Vanguard
  2. Select the ‘Mouse & Keyboard’ tab
  3. Navigate to the ‘Combat Keybinds’ section
  4. Scroll down until you find ‘Weapon Inspect’ under the ‘Weapons & Equipment’ section
  5. Select your preferred keybind

Warzone players have been able to inspect their weapons since the feature was added in the Modern Warfare Season 5 update, and it’s just the same as Vanguard.

Here’s how to inspect your weapon in Warzone:

  • On an Xbox or PlayStation controller, hold Left on the D-Pad
  • On a mouse and keyboard, press the ‘I’ key

We recommend keeping the inspect weapon keybind out of the way, as it’s not something you want to press in the middle of a firefight. But, inspecting your weapon is a great way to check out your camos and Blueprints.
