How to get Howler Claws in Fortnite: Alteration Altar locations
The Fortnitemares 2022 event has brought the new Howler Claws item to Fortnite, and here’s how you can find all the Alteration Altar locations in order to get your hands on it.
Epic Games frequently add updates to Fortnite in order to keep the game fresh, and the 22.20 patch helped players get into a festive spirit by bringing a ton of Halloween-themed content for Fortnitemares 2022.
One of the new additions in the update is an item known as Howler Claws that you can use to dish out some serious pain to your enemies. We’ll go over how you can get it and how the item works.

How to get Howler Claws in Fortnite
In order to get the Fortnite Howler Claws, you’ll need to visit Alteration Altars and perform the Ritual Emote. These have popped up on the island during the Fortnitemares 2022 event.
Here’s how you can unlock the Howler Claws in Fortnite:
- Hop into Fortnite
- Visit one of the Alteration Altar locations
- Select the Ritual Emote from the wheel and perform it

You can find Alteration Altars near the Reality Tree and they are also spread out at different points across the island. We’ve marked their exact locations on the map below, courtesy of Fortnite.GG.
Here are all the Alteration Alter locations:
- Around the Reality Tree
- East of Logjam Junction
- North side of Lustrous Lagoon
- At Flutter Barn
- South of Shimmering Shrine
- Northeast of Cloudy Condos
Fortnite Howler Claws abilities
Using the Howler Claws will make you into a wolf-like monster that can hunt down enemies like they were wild prey. You’ll gain powerful abilities that will make you a force to be reckoned with.
Here are all the Howler Claw abilities:
- Wolfscent: Use tracking vision to mark nearby enemies
- Slash: Perform a four-combo melee attack
- Air Slash: Do a double jump that damages your opponents after you land
That covers everything that you need to know about unlocking the Howler Claws. This new weapon is also required to complete a Fortnitemares Quest, so be sure to get your hands on it when you hop into the game.
