Ho-Oh in Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go is celebrating a new edition of its Festival of Colors event and Ho-Oh is back in 5-Star Raids, so here’s how to beat and catch it.

Legendary Pokemon Ho-Oh is back in Pokemon Go with a new and challenging 5-Star Raid in Season 10, Rising Heroes. Players have the chance to beat and catch the Legendary Bird to add it to their Pokedex and use it in battles, other Raids, and Gyms.

In this guide, we’ll go through all of Ho-Oh’s weaknesses as well as the best counters for the 5-Star Raid.

How to get Ho-Oh in Pokemon Go

Although many Pokemon Go players had the chance to catch Ho-Oh and other Legendary Pokemon through Research Breaktrough boxes, the only way to get Ho-Oh now is by defeating it in its 5-Star Raid and catching it afterward.

Some Legendary Pokemon return to the game after a while with easier challenges or even promo codes, but this is the only way to get Ho-Oh at the moment.

The Ho-Oh 5-Star Raids are are taking place from March 8 to March 21 and players have a chance to encounter a shiny Ho-Oh, so be on the lookout.

Ho-Oh is headlining Pokemon Go 5-Star Raids until March 21, 2023.

All Ho-Oh weaknesses & best counters in Pokemon Go

Ho-Oh is a dual Fire and Flying-type Pokemon, which means it’s weak against Electric, Rock, and Water-type attacks. Ho-Oh can resist Fighting, Bug, Steel, Fire, Grass, Ground, and Fairy-type moves, so try to leave those categories out of this Raid.

With a double weakness against Rock, this typing is your safest bet for this 5-Star Raid. It’s important to note that Ho-Oh might have Steel Wing (Steel) as Fast move and Solar Beam (Grass) as Charged Move, which are super effective against Rock-types.

With that said, some of the best counters for this Raid include Areodactyl, Rampardos, Tyrantrum, Swampert, Aggron, Rhyperior, Blastoise, Terrakion, Tyranitar, Gyarados, Landorus, and Kyogre. Some of these Pokemon can Mega Evolve with enough Mega Energy so try to do that for a more powerful approach.

It’s recommended to face this 5-Star Raid with at least three or four high-level trainers, but it can also be attainable with a group of six to eight lower-level Pokemon Go players with the proper counters.
