Overwatch 2 devs Blizzard have apologized for the game’s troubled launch and are offering players the free Cursed Captain Legendary Reaper skin, so here’s how to claim it.

When Overwatch 2 finally launched on October 4, the experience was marred for many by the massive server queues that made players have to wait hours to get in, and then server issues such as the DDoS prevented them from playing at all.

Blizzard are well aware of how much of an issue players had at launch and said in an October 11 blog post that they are confident that they’ve “largely stabilized the game overall” and have “made a lot of progress in fixing or improving issues some of you are facing.”

The devs have apologized for the issues players experienced with Overwatch 2’s launch and are giving players the Cursed Captain Legendary skin for Reaper and Health Pack weapon charm for free. Here’s how to claim the Cursed Captain Legendary Reaper skin in Overwatch 2.

How to claim Overwatch 2 Cursed Captain Legendary skin

All Overwatch 2 players need to do to claim the Cursed Captain Reaper Legendary skin is log in to Overwatch 2 between October 25 and the end of Season 1. The first season is expected to wrap up on December 6, so there’s plenty of time.

There’s not much else you need to do beyond that, as the Legendary skin and Health Pack Weapon Charm will automatically arrive in your collection on the first time you log in following October 25.

Plus, “to make up for any lost time,” Blizzard will be dropping several Double Match XP weekends to help level up and complete the Season 1 Battle Pass. They’ll confirm the specific dates for these Double XP events soon.

Overwatch 2’s next update will arrive “later this week,” and while they’ve not confirmed the content, Bastion and Torbjörn have been temporarily removed to be fixed, and they’re working on fixing the frustrating issue that’s locking players’ heroes.
