Dev Error 5537 is a particularly frustrating glitch that is keeping Call of Duty: Vanguard players from enjoying the game, and here’s how you can get around this error code.

CoD: Vanguard brought plenty of fun new content after its release on November 5, but players have also reported a few problems such as overpowered killstreaks and teleporting Attack Dogs.

There is also an error code that many fans have encountered known as dev error 5537, which is crashing the game and frustrating the Vanguard community. However, there are a few ways to get around this problem.

CoD: Vanguard players encounter the dev error 5537 while changing their Operator’s appearance in the multiplayer menu. When this happens, the game crashes without saving the changes to the outfit.

It’s unclear why this happens and Sledgehammer Games have yet to implement an official fix for this glitch. The good news is that there are different methods you can use when trying to fix this error.

Verify the CoD: Vanguard game files

If you encounter this error in Call of Duty: Vanguard on PC, then the problem could be that one of the game files is corrupted. You can figure out if this is the case by verifying the game files.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Launch the Battle.net client
  2. Select Vanguard, and head to Options
  3. Click Scan and Repair
  4. Wait for the scan to finish

If the game files are corrupted then you can implement the fixes recommended by the scan, although this could happen automatically. Once that’s done, restart the game and see if the error remains.

Update the graphics driver

You might be seeing this error message because the Operator skins menu is too much for your system’s graphics driver. In order to get around this problem, you should try updating it and then playing again.

Here’s how to update the graphics driver:

  1. Download and install Driver Easy
  2. Run the software, and select Scan Now
  3. Wait for the scan to complete
  4. Install the crommended updates
  5. Restart CoD: Vanguard

Avoid changing your Vanguard Operator’s outfit

If all else fails, you can just avoid altering your Operator’s outfit appearance and wait for Sledgehammer Games to implement a proper fix for the problem in a future update patch.

This isn’t the most convenient option so hopefully, the other methods will have resolved the issue for you. The developers will need to look into Dev Error 5537 and come up with a proper solution.
