How to fix Battlefield 2042 ‘unable to load persistence data’ error
The ‘unable to load persistence data’ error is causing problems in Battlefield 2042, and here’s how you can fix it.
Battlefield 2042 players are being plagued by the ‘unable to load persistence data’ error, so here’s everything you need to know about it, including how to fix it.
The first season of Battlefield 2042 is finally here, bringing brand-new Specialists, a Battle Pass with 100 tiers of rewards, and plenty of other fun content for players to try out after logging into the game.
However, players are encountering the ‘unable to load persistence data’ error that keeps kicking them out of games and returning them to the menu. We’ll go over how you can get around this problem.
How to fix ‘unable to load persistence data’ error in Battlefield 2042
Battlefield 2042 players that were eager to try out the new season soon found themselves locked out of the game because of the appearance of this error message, and this caught the attention of the developers.
EA’s Battlefield Direct Communication Twitter page responded to this issue and reassured players that they’re investigating this error. We’ll have to wait for them to implement a fix, but until they do, there are a few different workarounds that you can try.
Restart Battlefield 2042
The first solution that you can try to fix the “unable to load persistence data” bug in Battlefield 2042 is to restart the game. Simply close the Battlefield 2042 application and then wait for it to completely turn off.
Once that’s done, you can turn the game back on and see if that fixed the issue. If that doesn’t work, then you can also try restarting your PC or console.
Check your internet connection
Another way for you to get around this problem is to check your internet modem. If your connection isn’t working properly, then you may have to reset the modem in order to get rid of this error message.
Try turning your internet connection off and then back on to see if the problem has been resolved. You can also try connecting to a different router before logging into the game.
Disable crossplay in Battlefield 2042
When players encountered the “unable to load persistence data” error back in 2021, one solution that worked was to disable crossplay in the in-game settings.
Here’s how to disable Battlefield 2042 crossplay on PC and PlayStation:
- Enter the main menu
- Select Options
- Head to the General tab
- Go to the Crossplay option in the Other section,
- Turn Crossplay off
Here’s how you can get this done on Xbox consoles:
- Press the Xbox button
- Open the Settings menu.
- Go to the General section
- Select Online Safety and Family
- Head to Xbox Privacy
- Open View Details and Customize
- Select Communication and Multiplayer
- Press Block under the ‘you can join cross-network play’ option
That covers all the different workarounds that you can use to fix the “unable to load persistence data” error in Battlefield 2042. Hopefully, one of these solutions works for you. If not, we’ll just have to wait for the developers to implement a fix.
