How to complete Fortnite Rail Gun Recon Quests: Challenges & Guide
You can tackle the Rail Gun Recon Quests in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2, and this handy guide will go over how to get these done as quickly as possible.
Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2 brought a ton of different Quests for players to complete for bonus XP and other rewards, including Weekly challenges, as well as the Sideways Showdown Week Quests.
Now, Epic Games have temporarily unvaulted the Rail Gun and Recon Scanner as part of the Rail Gun Recon Quests that are available for a week. We’ll go over everything that you need to know.
How to complete Rail Gun Recon Quests in Fortnite
There are 9 different Rail Gun Recon Quests that you can complete in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2, consisting of tasks like dealing damage with the Rail Gun and marking enemies with the Recon Scanner.
Here are all of the Rail Gun Recon Quests in Fortnite:
- Deal damage from 50 or more meters with the Rail Gun (500)
- Deal damage to an opponent within 30 seconds of scanning them (500)
- Deal damage to opponents with the Rail Gun (500)
- Deal damage to opponents with the Rail Gun (2500)
- Deal damage to opponents with the Rail Gun (10000)
- Get a headshot with the Rail Gun (1)
- Mark enemy players using the Recon Scanner (5)
- Mark enemy players using the Recon Scanner (25)
- Mark enemy players using the Recon Scanner (100)
You can find both the Rail Gun and a Recon Scanner as floor loot or inside Chests. Since these are high-rarity items, we recommend visiting the best Fortnite landing spots if you want to acquire them quickly.
Once you’ve found both of these items, you can use the Rail Gun to damage your opponents by simply firing at them. However, this weapon can take some time to recharge, so be sure to find cover to hide behind.

You can use the Rail Gun to deal damage from 50 meters or more by placing a ping marker on the ground to check how much distance there is between you and your enemy. If the marker shows that you’re too close, you can just step back.
In order to use the Recon Scanner, you’ll need to aim it at the ground before firing. This will mark all nearby enemies, so we recommend doing it in a location with a high number of players during the match.
Be sure to use the Rail Gun to dish out damage within 30 seconds of marking enemies with the Recon Scanner in order to complete one of the objectives. These Quests are easy to complete, and you should be able to get them done in a single match.
