FIFA 22 FUT Hero Upgrade

EA have dropped a new SBC in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team that allows fans to bag themselves a coveted FUT Hero player. What are the requirements, and is it worth completing? We’ve got the lowdown right here.

FUT Heroes are one of the many new special cards added to FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, giving fans the chance to use some of their old favorites alongside today’s superstars.

Unlike ICONS, these are far more affordable cards but still come with great chemistry bonuses to help glue your team together.

EA have dropped a new SBC for fans to earn a random FUT Hero, we’ve got the full requirements and whether or not the challenge is worth it, below.

What are FIFA 22 FUT Heroes?

FUT Heroes in FIFA 22

FUT Heroes can best be described as cult heroes in a certain league. These are players who perhaps didn’t quite reach ICON status but are fondly remembered by football fans.

They have been chosen based on specific moments or seasons in their glittering careers. For example, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was picked for his role in Manchester United’s treble-winning season in 1998/99.

Each Hero is also tied to a specific league, offering strong chemistry to links to every player from that league in any squad.

These special cards have been in packs since October 1, 2021, but are among some of the rarest items in the game.

There are three SBCs to complete for the FUT Hero Upgrade, which according to FUTBIN are currently clocking in at between 180,000 and 200,000 coins in total.

The challenge is available until Monday, November 8, 2021, so you could easily wait until after Division Rivals and FUT Champions rewards to complete it.

Each individual SBC also rewards players with a free pack, so there’s always the chance of getting some fodder in one of those.

Is the FIFA 22 FUT Hero Upgrade worth it?

Hero Upgrade Pack in FIFA 22

Given how useful Hero cards can be in building hybrid squads, this is an extremely appealing SBC. However, we don’t recommend that everyone try and complete it.

The price of completing all three sections is currently sitting at nearly 200,000 coins, but you have to consider how many Heroes are actually selling for more than that on the Transfer Market.

At the time of writing, fans that have to buy every single player for the SBCs from scratch could only get six out of 23 Heroes that would be worth more than they put in.

These are only the top-tier Hero players with extremely high stats and from the major leagues; David Ginola, Abedi Pele, Antonio Di Natale, Ivan Cordoba, Joe Cole, and Robbie Keane.

For this reason, we advise anyone who would have to complete each SBC from scratch to hold onto their coins, or simply save up and buy the Hero card they want.

However, for fans with a lot of high-rated fodder lingering in their clubs, this is a challenge that could have a lot of benefits.

Trading in players that don’t get near your squad for a pack that could contain Ginola or Joe Cole seems like a no-brainer.

Considering the price of every Hero card currently on the market, we recommended only completing the FUT Hero Upgrade if you can grind it out for under 70,000 coins.
