Atomic Heart is the debut title for adventurous developers Mundfish and their chaotic first-person shooter title is looking to make an impression. Will it outstay its welcome though? Let’s find out how long it will likely take you to beat Atomic Heart.

Atomic Heart looks set to plug a gap in the market that has existed for several years in terms of a weird and wonderful FPS game chock-full of ideas. Despite being so early in the year, it’s already being hyped as one of the biggest games of 2023.

Its alternate reality 1955 Soviet Union setting is already enough to whet the appetite, but throw in the array of combinations you can whip up using makeshift weapons and Polymer abilities, and you’ve got a tantalizing proposition.

With that being said, let’s take a quick dive into the game’s expected open-world content and how long it’ll take for players to complete.

How long is Atomic Heart?

It’s expected that Atomic Heart will more than likely take players at least 25 hours to complete, according to developer Mundfish.

After initially estimating that the game will be a 20-hour adventure, the team confirmed in the Official Gameplay Overview Trailer on February 1 that it would take even longer to roll the credits than first thought.

“You will have a vast territory to explore,” said the devs. “Facility 3826 includes five giant complexes with more than 25 hours of gameplay to beat.”

While this is how long it takes to reach the end of Atomic Heart‘s main campaign, there will likely be other activities to help stretch out the runtime even further. The game is set in a large open-world, so although we haven’t seen too much of what is hidden within it, there’s a good chance that there’ll be some secrets and optional activities to find.

If this turns out to be the case, then it’s likely that the overall completion window for Atomic Heart could be stretched out to as much as 30-40 hours – so be prepared to spend plenty of time in this unusual world!
