Hogwarts Legacy players can witness multiple endings to the campaign that revolves around solving the mystery behind Ancient Magic. Here’s how many endings there are in Hogwarts Legacy, their differences, and how to unlock them.

Hogwarts Legacy was a huge hit when it launched on PlayStation and PC in February 2023. In May 2023, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 launch added more players to the mix and now, the Nintendo Switch community can also step into the massive wizarding world.

Hogwarts Legacy has an intriguing story that isn’t based on the Harry Potter books or movies, but fans will be delighted to know that there are iconic Harry Potter locations and characters to be stumbled upon.

From turning in Sebastian Swallow to stealing ingredients for Garreth Weasely, the campaign also lets you make some vital decisions. To know if these choices impact how the game ends, here’s every Hogwarts Legacy ending and how to get it.

How many endings are there in Hogwarts Legacy?

In total, there are three different endings to Hogwarts Legacy. The three different outcomes are described as the good ending, the evil ending, and the true ending.

The good and evil endings are achieved through a final choice offered to the player at the end of the campaign, which directly impacts how the story plays out. However, these different endings won’t have any effect on the map or the way characters interact with you.

Also, every player will be presented with the same decision regardless of the choices they make throughout the rest of the game.

How to unlock the secret ending in Hogwarts Legacy

The secret (or true) ending can be unlocked by reaching level 34 in Hogwarts Legacy, and completing the following quests:

  • Weasley’s Watchful Eye
  • The House Cup

Both quests become available after the final boss fight that lets you unlock the good or the evil ending.

Similar games have pulled this trick in the past, giving the most dedicated players who see and do everything an extra little piece of story content to enjoy.

All Hogwarts Legacy endings explained & how to get them

Below, we’ve explained every ending in Hogwarts Legacy, and be aware that there are major story spoilers:

  • Good ending – The good ending sees the player containing the Ancient Magic which will lead to a positive reaction from Professor Fig. After the Ranrok fight, Professor Fig passes away while claiming that his wife, Miriam, would’ve loved you and the wizarding world is in safe hands.
  • Evil ending – The evil ending sees the player opening the Repository. This will concern Professor Fig and he gives you another warning not to release the Ancient Magic. You can ignore the warning and stick to your decision. At the end of the Ranrok fight, your eyes will glow red and Professor Fig will die mysteriously.
  • True/Secret ending – The true ending of the game sees Hogwarts Castle’s students ending their academic year by completing all assignments. In the House Cup ceremony, your House will get extra bravery points from Professor Weasley and the cut-scene ends with fireworks and celebrations.

So, if you want to see the definitive ending to Hogwarts Legacy, there’s plenty of work to be done.
