Halo Infinite release date officially confirmed
Shortly after a Reddit user appeared to leak the release date for Halo Infinite, 343 Industries officially confirmed when the new game will be arriving.
As we creep towards the busy fall season of game releases, we finally know the official release date for Halo Infinite in what will be an exciting day for players.
After originally being planned as an Xbox Series X / S release title, Halo Infinite has had a troubled development cycle. It was delayed until 2021, and it was recently announced that it would be launching without Forge or Co-op Campaign.
News on the release date has been few and far between, leaving fans to rely on leaks of a possible battle royale or the return of Warzone to build their hype.
But now, after a leaked store listing hinted at a possible launch date this holiday season, a source close to Microsoft has reportedly confirmed this to be true, with the company later officially confirming this Halo Infinite release date during Gamescom 2021.
Halo Infinite Release Date
The only official window we had for Halo Infinite until now was that it would drop sometime in 2021. However, Reddit user a_ree_ker has unearthed a store listing that pointed towards a December 8 release date.
Although it has since been taken down, this listing was found on the Taiwanese online shopping website MOMO.

Shortly after this leak, The Verge reported that a source with insight into Microsoft’s plan confirmed that this date, which appeared on the publisher’s store, is accurate. This release date is expected to be officially confirmed at Gamescom on August 25.
This confirmation did indeed come true, as Halo infinite Creative Director Joseph Staten told Geoff Keighly during the Gamescom 2021 show that the Halo Infinite release date will be December 8, 2021.
Fans on Reddit felt that since rival shooters Battlefield 2042 and Call of Duty: Vanguard are coming in October and November, respectively, a December launch would give Halo Infinite some breathing room in the packed fall lineup but still take advantage of Christmas sales.
Halo fans had been pulling for a release date around November 15 because this would coincide with the 20th anniversary of Halo Combat Evolved, but this latest news confirms this won’t be the case.
The same report also revealed that the already delayed Co-op Campaign mode wouldn’t be added to the game until Season 2 of its battle pass, three months after launch. Meanwhile, Forge will come to Infinite in mid-2022, around six months after launch.
There is no doubt that the community is beyond excited with the official Halo Infinite Release date finally be out in the wild. In the meantime, make sure you check out the huge leak of Halo Infinite helmets and the teased link between the Battle Royale and Campaign.
