Your progress in Elden Ring is directly related to your level that increases after collecting Runes. Here’s a guide to reaching the max level in Elden Ring by farming Runes and several other items.

You start your journey in Elden Ring without a Maiden and the game allows players to level up only after they interact with Melina, the Finger Maiden. Although leveling up is something that you cannot access from the start, it’s one of the most important tasks to do in-game.

Your level in Elden Ring affects the weapons and magic that you can use to take on the toughest bosses. Leveling up is as simple as collecting Runes from the open world but to make it efficient, you can note down the items that boost XP and defeat enemies while equipping them.

On that note, here’s everything to know about the max level in Elden Ring and how you can achieve it.

Elden Ring's open world

How to find Melina in Elden Ring

You need to visit three different Sites of Grace in Elden Ring to find Melina. When you rest at the third Site of Grace, she will appear and grant you the ability to get Strength in exchange for Runes.

You can allocate Strength to different attributes and level up your character in the way you want.

What is the max level in Elden Ring?

The max level in Elden Ring is 713 and you can achieve this by increasing every attribute to 99. Once you’ve maxed out every attribute, you won’t be able to spend Runes.

Having said that, do not assume that beating Elden Ring requires you to reach level 710. Interestingly, you can beat the game at Lv. 120-130 and most players claim that they were close to Lv. 150 when they fought the final boss.

How to level up fast in Elden Ring

There are two ways to level up in Elden Ring – farming Runes and finding items that increase the amount of Runes you get after defeating enemies.

Best locations to farm Runes in Elden Ring

You can collect a massive amount of Runes in Elden Ring by defeating the enemies in these locations:

Caelid

Visit the Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow in Elden Ring and go to the Farum Greatbridge Site of Grace. Here, you’ll find enemies that can be attacked from behind sneakily and the reward for every kill is a whopping 1000 Runes.

The exact location of the Farum Greatbridge Site of Grace is marked in the image below:

Limgrave

Explore the Stormhill Castle in the Limgrave region of Elden Ring to face Trolls. These enemies have high HP and killing one can quickly grant at least 1000 Runes to you.

Mohgwhyn’s Palace

Follow these steps to get 40,000 Runes every minute in Elden Ring:

  1. Complete the Varre questline.
  2. Use the Pureblood Knight’s medal to reach Mohgwhyn’s Palace.
  3. Follow the river with bloodstained water until you reach a Site of Grace. Activate it.

Near the Site of Grace, you’ll find sleeping Albinaurics, and killing one will grant 2000 Runes. There’s an entire group of Albinaurics in the region and you can wake them up individually through attacks. The area also has four guards but killing them isn’t an arduous task due to their slow attacks.

Overall, you’ll get over 40,000 Runes by defeating the enemies in this region and you can repeat the process infinitely by resetting at the Site of Grace.
