Warzone Season 3 is fresh off the heels of its Verdansk ’84 map revamp, and one of its key POIs – Airport – is already being affected by a devastating wall glitch that lets players underneath.
We’re only a few days removed from the seismic, two-day nuke event that permanently reshaped Call of Duty: Warzone’s Verdansk forever. The Season 2 Zombie invasion has been vanquished, but players have been left guessing about the future of the map as Activision took them back over 30 years to Verdnask in 1984.
The change has changed several of the map’s key landing zones, including repairing Airport. Ironically, in fixing Airport, it appears that it has simultaneously broken the map as the area has a wall glitch that allows players to hide underneath Verdansk ’84.
In a game of Plunder on Verdansk ’84, Reddit user weeabooDude762 began their quest to scavenge as much cash as they possibly could by dropping into Airport.
They readied themself to enter a building when they noticed that their character model hadn’t bounced off of the wall next to them. After firing at the wall and pondering for a second or two, they thrust themself into the apparently invisible wall.
In a scene out of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the player enters the wall and emerges on the other side – inside and under Airport.
With this newfound freedom, they searched around the area to see where they could and couldn’t go. There were plenty of spare textures under the map to use as platforms to negotiate around the uncharted territory. They even fired their gun through the map on multiple occasions, leaving bullet holes as evidence.
After a couple of minutes of doing this, they got bored and re-entered the map to compete as usual. On one hand, this bug isn’t the worst one we’ve ever seen in Warzone as it only limits the player to Airport, as there aren’t enough textures that extend to the rest of the map.
But it does mean that either at the start of a game or at the end with a matching circle, players can exploit Airport to kill players from underneath the map.
It seems concerning we’ve had several instances of wall glitches like this, yet logic says to just make these walls one-way to avoid players clipping or firing through them.
Warzone has notoriously been buggy, and given that Verdansk ’84 is relatively untested, there’s always the possibility that more gaps in the map are possible.
