A new Fortnite leak is pointing towards a major tournament planned for Season 6.

It appears that through some Fortnite leaks that the possibility for a new LAN event could be on the horizon. With recent restrictions in place throughout the world, LAN events have been mostly absent throughout 2020.

Recently, players have been competing in the Fortnite Champion Series for the past year, with smaller events happening online.

Now, according to popular Fortnite leaker VastBlastt on Twitter, we may see some LAN events coming soon, as the Live Broadcasting server has recently been updated to the v16.00 version on an update posted on March 3, 2021.

The last time the client saw an update was in January 2020, during the Dreamhack Anaheim event, which was the final LAN before the health crisis shut down all in person LAN events for the remainder of 2020, and into 2021.

We are unaware on exactly what this could mean, as Epic Games have already confirmed we won’t be seeing a World Cup in 2021.

If this is in fact for a LAN event, this would be the second LAN event announced by a developer for 2021, as VALORANT developer Riot have already announced that a LAN event will be occurring during 2021.

Most likely though, is that this is just an update for the Live Broadcasting server, in preparation for future events that will be hosted in 2022, or maybe Epic Games plans to use the client for other reasons.

Regardless for the reasoning behind this update, we’ll sure find out in the coming months if this is related to a LAN event. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that conditions in the world improve so we can get back to in-person esports as soon as possible.

We’ll keep you updated if we hear any additional information.
