Popular Fortnite data miner and leaker HYPEX has confirmed that Chapter 3 is set to launch after Season 8 ends, with the Black Hole making a return.

Back in 2019, Fortnite Season X concluded with a huge Black Hole event that shut down the game for almost two days. When Fortnite went back online, players dropped into Chapter 2 and a brand new map.

Leaks have indicated that the Black Hole could return at the end of Season 8, but now data miner HYPEX has confirmed that there will be no Season 9, and instead, we’ll finally see Chapter 3.

Following the 18.40 patch notes, data miners discovered that the Season 8 event would be called The End. Some dismissed this as a placeholder title, but HYPEX confirmed players’ theories.

“Now that ‘The End’ playlist got leaked I can finally talk about this: Chapter 3 is planned to launch on December 7th (It’s SOO good btw),” tweeted HYPEX on November 16. “And the Blackhole stays during 5th-6th.”

Season 8 is set to end on December fifth, so it appears that the servers will go down until the seventh while Epic Games applies the massive Chapter 3 update.

Of course, these are just leaks and there’s no official confirmation that Chapter 3 will arrive so soon. However, HYPEX is confident in his sources: “These sources were NEVER wrong about many things, if they’re wrong this time I’ll take the blame.”

There have been plenty of other hints that Season 8 would be the end of Chapter 2. One example is when Donald Mustard, Epic Games’ Chief Creative Officer, tweeted in September that “CH2 S8 and the two after it are maybe my very favorite parts.” Many took the “two after it” to be a tease that there won’t be a Season 9.

Again, these are just leaks and rumors right now, but we expect Epic Games will provide a more concrete update in the coming weeks. So stay tuned to Charlie INTEL, as we’ll keep you updated with any developments.
