Forgotten Modern Warfare SMG’s buffed hip-fire build shreds in Warzone Season 5

Following a major buff in the Warzone Season 5 update, players have discovered a hip-fire build for a long-forgotten Modern Warfare SMG that could dominate the final season.

Warzone Season 5 has given players plenty of new weapons to choose from, from the EX1 Energy Rifle to the RA 225 SMG, with even more set to arrive down the line.

As is the case with every major update, Raven also used Season 5 as an opportunity to introduce a number of balancing changes to the existing lineup of guns, with the intention of shaking up the meta and making less popular weapons more viable.

Well, that’s exactly what’s happened to the Fennec from Modern Warfare, and with this hip-fire loadout, the SMG could be a major player in the final chapter of Warzone.

The Season 5 update saw the Fennec receive an increase in both its neck damage multiplier (from 1.01 to 1.4) as well as its leg and foot damage multiplier (from 0.9 to 1). These may seem like small changes, but they add up to a substantial increase in damage when you consider the SMG‘s blistering fire rate.

The result is a weapon that is devastating at close range, with less penalty for those stray shots that hit limbs instead of the head or torso.

On the back of this, Warzone player BrunoJohn117 shared a hip-fire Fennec loadout along with a clip of the build-in action, and it absolutely shreds. Check out the full loadout below:

Warzone Fennec hip-fire loadout

  • Barrel: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Laser: 5mW Laser
  • Stock: No Stock
  • Ammunition: 40 Round Drum Mags
  • Perk: Sleight of Hand

The key to this loadout is the 5mW Laser, which greatly increases hip-fire accuracy and sprint-to-fire speed, as well as the decision to not include a Barrel, which further boosts accuracy when not aiming down the sights.

Of course, movement is essential if you’re running a hip-fire build, which is where the No Stock comes into play. This boosts your overall speed and lets you put pressure on enemies, while the Monolithic Suppressor increases the damage range.

Finally, he went for 40 Round Drum Mags for extra ammo capacity, and Sleight of Hand for quick reloads during frantic fights.

If you’re looking for a loadout that’s a little easier to use in the final weeks of Warzone, then we strongly recommend giving this Fennec build a spin. It could make for a devastating short-range partner to a strong Assault Rifle or Sniper.
