Every returning FIFA 23 player will remember the overwhelmingly positive reception for FIFA 22’s Winter Wildcards promo. The Ultimate Team community crowned the promo as one of the best in recent memory and players are eager to discover what’s in store for FIFA 23’s Winter Wildcards.
Part of what made the promo so special was the introduction of Swaps, which have since become a mainstay of the Ultimate Team experience in FIFA 23.

FIFA 23 Winter Wildcards Swaps start date
EA have confirmed through an in-game loading screen that Winter Wildcard Swaps got underway on Monday, December 19, 2022. This is a few days before the first team of Winter Wildcard players is expected to arrive in packs.
According to the well-known FIFA leaker FUT Sheriff, the event will then last until Friday, January 13, 2023, giving fans almost four weeks to claim their rewards.
What are FIFA 23 Winter Wildcards Token Swaps?
Throughout the FIFA 23 Winter Wildcards promo, players will have the chance to collect Swaps Tokens by completing challenges. Players can then redeem these Tokens or Swaps for valuable FUT rewards.
These challenges will task players with using cards from a certain nation or league in Squad Battles, Division Rivals, or FUT Friendlies, and then scoring specific types of goals or assisting in a certain way.
The Winter Wildcards Swaps program in FIFA 22 was adored by players and it kicked off the Swaps craze that was previously exclusive to Icon Swaps. Ultimate Team players were ecstatic that they had rewards to grind for during the Holidays.
Nowadays, Swaps programs are quite common, with the Token system added to several promos throughout FIFA 23’s cycle.

- WW Kieran Trippier: 2 Tokens
- 81+ x 11 Pack: 3 Tokens
- 3x 84+ Player Picks (4 options): 8 Tokens
- 83+ x 25 Pack: 10 Tokens
- WW Sandro Tonali: 10 Tokens
- 85+ x10 Pack: 15 Tokens
- 85+ Winter Wildcards Player Picks (5 options): 15 Tokens
- 3x (85+ x25 Packs): 20 Tokens
EA revealed the full slate of FIFA 23 Winter Wildcards Swaps rewards, and there are eight rewards up for grabs. Winter Wildcards Kieran Trippier and Sandro Tonali are the two players available and they’ll cost 2 and 10 Tokens respectively.
Other Winter Wildcards rewards in FIFA 23 consist of several valuable Packs including the top reward of three 85+ x25 Packs for 20 Tokens.
25 Winter Wildcards Tokens are up for grabs, so you’ll have to plan out your rewards accordingly. The first Token is given to all players who log into FIFA 23 during the event and the second is available via the FIFA World Cup TOTT Challenge 1 SBC, which expires on December 26.
