FIFA 23 Showdown Series promo

FIFA 23 fans had a chance to enjoy the Showdown Series promo in Ultimate Team. The Showdown Series delivered live cards to the game with the potential for upgrades so let’s get into the SBCs and upgrades that arrived.

FIFA 23 players have come to expect a new promo every Friday, however, this isn’t always the case. Previously the RTTF promo brought plenty of live cards to Ultimate Team, but with it being a one-week promo, players were wondering what was next.

It turns out FIFA 23 players received the Showdown Series promo to bridge the gap to the Fantasy FUT promo. The event took over Ultimate Team and delivered plenty of boosted cards via SBCs.

FIFA 23 Showdown Series start date

The Showdown Series promo arrived on Friday, February 24. Not only did players receive plenty of Showdown SBCs, but EA have decided to add previous special cards to packs throughout the promo.

You can check out the cards in the Tweet below to see which special items returned to packs for that week.

Standout players included Winter Wildcard Gabriel Jesus, OTW Haaland, and Winter Wildcard Benzema.

FIFA 23 Showdown Series upgrades explained

The Showdown Series first appeared in FIFA 22 and the concept remained the same in FIFA 23. Essentially, EA offered players the opportunity to complete a considerable amount of Showdown SBCs and Objectives.

The Showdown concept focuses on two players who are set to face off in a real-life match. Based on the results of the match, the FIFA 23 Showdown players will receive upgrades.

Here’s how the Showdown Series upgrades are expected to function:

  • Win: +2
  • Draw: +1
  • Loss: No upgrade
The Showdown Series has the potential for major upgrades.

Of course, the catch is that players had to complete the SBC or Objective before the matches started, meaning they had the chance to predict the outcome before a ball is kicked. The Showdown Series balances the risk and reward concept with a major upgrade for the winning team.

FIFA 23 Showdown Series SBC players

FIFA 23 players were in for some juicy cards with potential upgrades on the line. The Showdown Series focused on major clashes between top teams.

Unlike other promos that release items all at once, the Showdown Series released new content (SBCs) on a daily basis.
