FIFA 23’s marketing has ramped up ahead of its September 30 launch and EA have now revealed a Marvel collaboration, bringing special FUT Hero World Cup cards to the game.

The last game in the FIFA series before shifting to EA Sports FC in 2023, FIFA 23 is set to include crossplay between PC and current-gen consoles for the first time ever. Of course, it’s set to have all of the usual promos such as Ones to Watch.

That’s not all though, as EA have taken a page out of Fortnite’s book and are including a crossover with Marvel. Although it sounds too bizarre to be true, here’s everything we know about this crossover.

FIFA 23 x Marvel crossover explained

On August 15, EA revealed that they would be working with Marvel to bring special FUT Hero items to FIFA 23 Ultimate Team. The crossover had leaked previously, sparking much confusion among the community, but the publisher has now confirmed that the team-up is real.

The collaboration will bring with it unique World Cup versions of FUT Heroes with special comic book-style designs created by the artists at Marvel, which will be released when the World Cup mode is released later in the year.

It’s unclear right now if the Marvel Heroes will receive any stat boosts that affect them in-game, or if they simply intended to be a collector’s item for football and superhero fans. Either way, reimagining the likes of Landon Donovan and Yaya Toure as comic book characters is a neat addition that players would have never expected.

Players will also have access to brand-new cosmetics that sees FUT Heroes “immortalized as Marvel-inspired Heroes,” such as tifos, kits, and more.

How to get free a FIFA 23 Marvel FUT Heroes World Cup card

If you want to get your hands on one of these FIFA 23 Marvel FUT Heroes, all you have to do is preorder the game before August 21. Anyone who secures their copy of FIFA 23 before this date will be awarded a Marvel FUT Hero card when World Cup mode arrives.

The items will also be available in packs and on the Transfer Market in FIFA 23 World Cup mode, but those who act fast can get an early advantage over their opponents.
