Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 replaced the standard Hardcore playlist with ‘Tier 1,’ but popular YouTuber FaZe Jev had some harsh feedback for the mode, asking the devs: “what the f**k are you guys doing?”

Hardcore playlists have been in every Call of Duty since CoD 4, offering a limited HUD, lightning-fast time to kill, and friendly fire. However, Modern Warfare 2 didn’t launch with Hardcore, with Infinity Ward bringing ‘Tier 1 Playlists‘ with Season 1 instead.

The mode was described as almost exactly like Hardcore so players were baffled by the name change, but now it’s actually here, players have realized that it’s not the same as Hardcore.

Players feel that Tier 1 is more like Modern Warfare 2019’s Realism mode than traditional Hardcore because it doesn’t feature any HUD at all, nor does it have hitmarkers, a kill feed, or confirmation that you’ve got a kill.

Popular CoD YouTuber FaZe Jev jumps into Hardcore for each year’s camo grind and had some harsh words for the devs regarding the change.

“Tier 1 came out… Tier 1 is not Hardcore. What the f**k are you guys doing?” ranted Jev following the Season 1 update. “Did you guys literally just delete Hardcore from your f**king game? Are you kidding me?

Tier 1 is basically like a form of the Realism mode which they know was just a complete and utter flop.”

“Please add regular Hardcore to the game,” he continued, explaining that a proper Hardcore mode existed in Private Matches. “Not only did you guys just literally f**k an entire community of players … they managed to replace it with a mode that’s even worse.”

Whether a true Hardcore playlist is still to come remains to be seen, but it appears Tier 1 Playlists are here to stay for the foreseeable future. Perhaps change will come in December’s Season 1 Reloaded update but we’ll have to wait and see.
