EA Sports FC 24 leak claims Ultimate Team Transfer Market could be scrapped to combat coin sellers
EA SportsAccording to a new EA Sports FC 24 leak, the devs are considering doing away with the Transfer Market in Ultimate Team in an effort to players from buying and selling coins.
2023 will mark the first release in EA’s long-running football franchise since the publisher ended its deal with FIFA, meaning the game will be rebranded this time around. Now titled EA Sports FC 24, the devs have promised that fans can still expect the modes they know and love.
However, leaks have already hinted at a few major changes that could arrive, from the long-requested Women’s Ultimate Team mode, to the introduction of “dynamic packs” that have improved weight the more players open them.
Now, a new EA Sports FC 24 leak has revealed that the devs are considering removing the Ultimate Team Transfer Market altogether.
In a March 3 tweet, well-known FIFA insider FUTZone claimed that “EA are testing ‘No Market’ in Ultimate Team due to the excessive coin selling scandal.”
Up until FIFA 23, the FUT Transfer Market has been the only place where players can use their coins to buy the specific players, consumables, or club items they want. FUT fans list cards for a specific price, which can then be bid on or bought outright.
Removing this system would obviously be a major change to the Ultimate Team mode in EA Sports FC 24, meaning that players would have to rely on luck from randomized packs and using real money to buy FIFA Points.
FUTZone added that this is part of EA‘s efforts to “phase out” coins in the mode, as the last few entries in the series have seen far more untradeable SBCs and rewards.
As the leaker mentioned, this is most likely due to some players using the Transfer Market to illegally transfer coins to different accounts. This is done by listing a pre-agreed card on the market for a drastically inflated price, which another player then buys.
They also said that a different version of the market is being considered which would be similar to FIFA Mobile. This is where users don’t buy cards based on individual listings on the Transfer Market, but instead, submit a purchase request that the game will then match to a listed player.
It’s worth keeping in mind that this is all just a leak for now, so be sure to take this information with a pinch of salt.
Only time will tell if the devs decide to abandon the Ultimate Team Transfer Market in EA Sports FC, or if they implement a different system to try and combat coin sellers.
