Cold War Zombies players furious as game-breaking “connection interrupted” issues continue

Zombies continues to be one of Call of Duty’s most exciting attractions, and Cold War has a whole host of undead content. But since the game’s release, players continually have games end at the hands of a “connection interrupted” screen.

There’s absolutely nothing worse than sinking one, two, or maybe even three hours of your time into a Zombies session, and it suddenly ending because of a disrupted connection.

Whether it’s completing objectives and surviving the open world of Outbreak or battering your way through rounds of Mauer der Toten, it can be utterly demoralizing. We’re nine months into Cold War’s release, and players are still having their efforts thwarted by instability.

Slaying zombie after zombie is endlessly satisfying, and it’s kept players keep coming back all these years since World at War debuted the game mode.

But the various Zombies modes that Cold War offers always run the risk of games ending suddenly, and players such as SettingIntentions are tired of it.

“It’s been 268 days since the release of Black Ops Cold War, and most Zombies matches still end in “connection interrupted.” This game has the worst online play ever.”

This was the title of their post which has received a staggering 2.1k upvotes, and they explained the issues plaguing Zombies, and how they could be rectified going forward.

“268 days, still online Zombies matches end in “connection interrupted.” These servers are ridiculous. I don’t think I will ever buy a Call of Duty title again (and I haven’t bought a Call of Duty title in years, Cold War was an exception for Zombies).

“It is absolutely disgusting how low-quality online matches are in Black Ops Cold War Zombies. I have one of the best internet connections and PCs, and 0 issues when it comes to every other video game.

“The issue is the absolutely terrible setup for Black Ops Cold War Zombies, such so that the host will never migrate if the host has an issue, while at the same time never allowing you to become host because you always join people with terrible connections.”

Whereas Black Ops Cold War uses dedicated servers for each of its online multiplayer matches, Zombies runs purely off of a host’s internet connection.

Given the popularity of Zombies and the criticism it receives for its connection issues, Activision may rethink this if it includes Zombies in Call of Duty: Vanguard.
