An ex-Call of Duty Pro has revealed why he believes that Modern Warfare 2’s Ranked Play will “die out.”

Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 arrived with loads of new content for players to dig their teeth into, from new weapons like the Cronen Squall to a brand-new map and Battle Pass to get through.

While new content is often well received, competitive Call of Duty players didn’t get much of an update when it comes to Ranked Play, and now an ex-pro and one of the top players from last season has criticized the mode and explained why it could lose traction and players soon.

Parasite is an ex-Call of Duty pro and was the number one ranked player for Ranked Play in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2. On Twitter, the top player expressed his opinions on Modern Warfare 2’s Ranked Play, detailing why he believes it will “die out soon.”

According to Parasite, Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play will die out “because nothing changes season after season.”

The ex-pro went on to explain that it’s the “same maps” and “boring” guns. Parasite said that other “competitive titles get regular map updates and new heroes or weapons regularly. CoD simply doesn’t.”

Further, the top player also said that the devs fail to balance weapons “even remotely,” leading to an even more stale experience. Parasite hoped that the devs “add a ton of MW1 and 2, 3 maps and just add them into ranked just to keep it interesting till next year’s release,” or they feel the mode will ultimately “die out.”

We’ll have to wait and see what the devs do with Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play, as Season 3 Reloaded could bring some big changes, and the game does have quite a few more seasonal updates until the next Call of Duty release.
