Hogwarts Legacy grants Harry Potter fans the opportunity to be part of the Wizarding World, but can you use dark magic and become a villain in the story? We’ve got the answers.

There is a plethora of fun Harry Potter content set to arrive with the release of Hogwarts Legacy, including a vast open world with many classic locations from the franchise that players will be able to explore.

After you choose your house and collect your wand, you’ll be able to cast all sorts of spells while exploring the school. However, players are wondering if they’ll have the freedom to go down a dark path in the story.

Can you be evil in Hogwarts Legacy?

In Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll have the option to make evil choices like practicing the dark arts. You’ll be able to cast unforgivable curses such as Avada Kedavra, Crucio, and Imperio, which are the actions of a dark wizard.

You can also choose to make friends in different houses, including the Slytherin student Sebastian Sallow who can get you caught up in his mischief. It is through befriending him that you will learn the Cruciatus Curse.

The developers have made it clear that the game can have multiple outcomes depending on your actions. However, it’s unclear exactly what will change in the ending if you make these decisions.

It’s likely that while you can do evil things, you won’t be able to become a full-on villain as you’re still the protagonist. The trailer shows that you’ll have to battle dark wizards, so it’s unlikely that you’ll be as evil as them.

Of course, we won’t know for sure exactly how far your evil actions go until after the release of Hogwarts Legacy. However, based on what the developers have said, you’ll have the option to decide what kind of student you’ll be.
