Warzone Season 5 Gulag audio broken

It seems Gulag audio is completely broken once again as Warzone players voice their frustration with the development following the Season 5 update.

Warzone Pacific’s Season 5 update delivered new weapons to unlock, new modes to enjoy, and major changes to Caldera. The battle royale map is hotter than ever as lava spews down the side of Peak.

The update also brought a new Gulag that’s inspired by the fan-favorite Showers Gulag from Verdansk. While players seem to be enjoying the new layout, the same cannot be said for the audio quality in the Gulag, as several players are reporting it to be completely broken.

As the video above posted to the Warzone subreddit showcases, the OP did not receive a single audio cue as the enemy made their noisy approach in the Gulag. Unfortunately, this frustrating experience seems quite common amongst players in Season 5.

Warzone players will recall that this Gulag audio issue was fixed by the devs in Season 4. However, some players believe that with each major update previous quality of life improvements vanish from the game.

“Seems that all the quality of life improvements they made to the game over the past 2-3 months have been reverted in S5 to what we had in January or February. Ghost, stims, Serptentine all got reverted to their launch states.”

If this is indeed the case then the devs may already have a fix prepared. It’s unfortunate that players will have to deal with the game in a less-than-ideal state following exciting Season 5 updates, but hopefully, the devs move fast to address issues they’ve already dealt with in the past.

Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of this no audio bug in the Gulag is the fact that players can still hear the footsteps of Operators waiting for their turn to fight outside of the battleground.

Not only do players have to contend with not receiving proper audio in a 1 vs 1 gunfight, but they also have to deal with the distraction of players stomping around and throwing rocks beside them.

This common audio issue had led players to hope for the best when it comes to Warzone 2: “The footstep audio in the game is terrible. I’m really hoping it’s better in WZ 2.” The devs have already claimed that new technology should lead to footstep audio improvement in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
