Is Nuketown coming to Modern Warfare 2

Nuketown is one of the most iconic multiplayer maps in Call of Duty history, but does it appear in Modern Warfare 2? Here’s everything you need to know.

Modern Warfare 2 launched with a varied selection of multiplayer maps for players to learn, from sprawling Ground War maps to more compact 6v6 arenas. Since then the roster has only grown, with new maps arriving with each major update.

Season 1 added fan favorites like Shipment and Shoothouse, while Season 2 has brought Valderas Museum and Himmelmat Expo. But with around 15 core maps in Modern Warfare 2 as of Season 2 Reloaded, fans are wondering if the beloved Nuketown is among them.

So, is Nuketown in Modern Warfare 2? We’ve got all the answers below.

Can you play Nuketown in Modern Warfare 2?

Bad news for long-time CoD fans, Nuketown isn’t currently one of the maps included in Modern Warfare 2.

The fast-paced and chaotic map became an instant hit when it debuted in Black Ops back in 2010, and has been remade numerous times since. It has appeared in every entry of the Black Ops series, last featuring as Nuketown 84 in Black Ops Cold War.

However, despite its popularity, Modern Warfare 2 doesn’t offer any version of Nuketown for multiplayer fans to enjoy. Instead, it opts for the likes of Shipment, Mercado Las Almas, and Santa Sena Border Crossing to scratch that small map itch.

Nuketown last appeared in Black Ops Cold War.

Is Nuketown coming to Modern Warfare 2?

There is currently no word on whether or not Nuketown will come to Modern Warfare 2 in a future season, but it does seem highly unlikely that it will arrive in the future.

Nuketown was made by Treyarch, and it’s very rare that maps crossover into games by different developers, even though they all fall under the same Call of Duty banner.

So far we’ve only seen maps from Infinity Ward-developed games come to MW2, with Shipment, Shoot House, and Dome all making a comeback. With this in mind, arenas from older entries in the Modern Warfare series, such as Highrise or Favela, seem more likely at this point.

That being said, fans have been hoping to see more iconic maps from past CoD titles, and Nuketown would certainly be a prime candidate. So, a return for Nuketown in Modern Warfare 2 can’t be ruled out, but don’t be surprised to see Infinity Ward look elsewhere when adding new maps.
