Can you use Cold War Operators in Modern Warfare?
Operators are a fun way to shake up lobbies and encounter different faces and skins. Call of Duty has many to choose from, but can Cold War Operators appear in Modern Warfare?
With so many Call of Duty games available at once, it can be hard to keep a track of what content is valid with which game. Blueprints and skins purchased in Cold War and Warzone can be used across each game, and players have found Cold War’s Dark Matter camo available in Modern Warfare.
Not everything is compatible with each game though, and a big question is the use of Operators across different CoD games. They cost real money and are cool to use, but can Modern Warfare players also use Cold War Operators in the game too?
Are Black Ops Cold War Operators usable in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare?
The quick and short answer is no, Cold War Operators cannot be used in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
It’s not 100% certain as to why this is the case, but it’s easy to see why this issue could be confused. Call of Duty: Warzone is tied to Modern Warfare as the game came out during the middle of Modern Warfare’s lifecycle.
Warzone then became integrated into Black Ops Cold War during December 2020, and Cold War’s guns became usable in Warzone, they each shared the same Battle Pass, and bundles could be used across both games.
However, there was slight confusion as players also believed that Black Ops Cold War content could be used in Modern Warfare. They are standalone games in the yearly release cycle, and as such, it makes more sense for Activision to have separate cosmetics for each.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is set to be fully integrated into Warzone when it releases, meaning there will be even more guns to choose from. But we’d expect that any bundles purchased in Vanguard will only be usable in Warzone, and not Cold War or Modern Warfare.
