Top 5 tips to dominate Armada in Black Ops Cold War

Andrew Highton

There are a few tips and tricks to really get the hang of Armada, given the depth it has and its uniquely laid out map. So follow our 5 most trusted methods to absolutely dominate Armada in BOCW.

From an outsider’s perspective, Armada is just a big boat with two main lanes. Unlike Hijacked from Black Ops 2, Armada’s ship is big, massive in fact. There is a lot of ground to cover and plenty of different ways to tackle its cargo.

It’s always nice to have a map that’s pleasing to the eye, and it’s also nice to have one that offers you lots of freedom. Learn how to harness that freedom and use it for your own gain.

1. Enemies hidden in the middle section, in plain sight

Without the right strategy or wherewithal, you can easily rack up a swift death streak because of the operations room in the middle. From the outside looking in, visibility is minimal.

To properly counteract this, move from cover-to-cover. It’ll just be a rough time in the match where the enemy team has some control, so keep zigzagging and make your way your way to that room – but use cover!

2. Hide behind pillars in the middle, use proximity mines

If you’re the person with the middle advantage, you need to make the most of it before a siege happens and enemies storm it.

Following on from point one, the opposition will have a hard time seeing you unless you’re pressed right up against one of the room’s windows.

What you want to do is be somewhere near the middle of the room and use something for cover as well. Trust us when we see you’ll be the equivalent of a sniper, in a ghillie suit, in a large green field.

Make sure you cover yourself with a couple of proximity mines near the key entry points to persevere your position a bit longer.

3. Don’t forget about the bridge under the ship

So many people seem oblivious to the fact that this is probably the best way to gain a serious footing in any match.

If you’re hemmed in on one side of the ship with the enemy occupying their side and the middle, then go underneath the ship. It’s impossible to have every route covered, and this one is usually bare.

It allows you to emerge on the opposite end of the ship, and more importantly, you can switch sides of the ship. You can also get to the ladder that goes up to the walkway around the middle room, plus you can sneak through the door that takes you to the middle section, etc. The importance of the lower level cannot be overlooked.

4. When you spawn, look out for these main points

As we alluded to in our introduction, each end of Armada has a big spawn area. There’s pretty much no spawning in-between. Within about three seconds of spawning, you could be targeted from one of about five different places.

The middle has multiple windows to watch out for, you’ve got the stairs coming up from below the deck (on each side), you’ve got the walkway that goes around the outside of the middle room, and even the door that leads to the middle section. Always have a quick scan around when you’ve spawned.

5. Go for the B flag straight away

This is a very game mode specific tip, but Domination is exceedingly popular, and Armada’s B Flag is about as hard as it gets to capture. Random grenades from halfway across the map are impossible, and scorestreaks are ineffective unless it’s maybe an RC-XD.

Once a round starts, whether it’s the first half or second-half, at least four or five members of your team should be bolting for that flag. Owning that flag also means owning the middle, and you can easily keep the enemy in their spawn area.

That’s all of our best advice and tips for you. Armada is great if played smartly; no matter how lost a game looks, it can also be overturned. Use our tips and be the one to turn the tide.
