Black Ops Cold War players call for changes to Double XP tokens
Call of Duty players have been facing troubles when trying to use the Double XP tokens in Black Ops Cold War. Many of them have taken to Reddit to point out the issues, and they’re demanding huge changes from Activision.
Warzone’s integration with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has brought a plethora of exciting content for players. There are brand new weapons that you can unlock, as well as a playable operator in Season One. Additionally, Activision also recently held a series of Double XP events for both titles.
Many players who got the battle pass were given the Double XP tokens from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare this season. However, this hasn’t faired well, and a thread on Reddit has highlighted the issues players are dealing with when using them. They want some big changes to happen soon.
BOCW fans want changes in the Double XP tokens
Many fans have been facing problems with Double XP tokens for a solid year now. The biggest complaint is that it takes forever to find a match when using them, which makes the tokens seem like a needless hassle.
Reddit user u/Tritonpr95x made a post regarding this issue in the Black Ops Cold War subreddit. The player stated that it’s irritating to waste time searching for matches on tokens, and that it takes a long while to find a game.
“Really lame you lose so much time searching for matches on your token. Not sure what it is but after some searching seems like a lot of people have the same issue where finding matches takes forever. Crossplay enabled.”
Many other players in the comments shared this sentiment. They agreed that the tokens should be “in match timed”, and that they should function like the ones from Infinite Warfare where you have a good game, and then double your XP.
There’s an in-game notice acknowledging this issue so the the developers and Activision are aware that this problem is plaguing players. In spite of the various posts that have been made regarding this topic, they haven’t yet made an announcement that they plan to fix it anytime soon.
A few of the comments targeted the 15 minute XP tokens as being particularly problematic. One from u/Darkestneon criticized that you only get one of them for a game, and then you end up spending a good portion of that time waiting in the lobby.
“Thats why 15min XP Tokens are scams. They only let you use them for one MP game. Then you lose 5min in lobby and in loading. You lose ONE THIRD of your token that you got with a battle pass that you PAID for.
It’s a scam. Give me 30min tokens at least. 15min are useless pretty much. I do agree they should be for in-game time though”
You can activate old Double XP Tokens
The best way around the issue is to get a lobby and then activate tokens the second before the map starts loading. Also, as another user pointed out, you can activate your old tokens from Warzone and then jump into Cold War to reap the benefits of the Double XP you hoarded.
This method still works as one player tried it out and then stated, “Thanks I just did this and it worked. Now that’s enough talking about it, before they catch wind and block it from working somehow.”
A few players in the thread commented that they haven’t experienced the issue to this extent. Some of them have reported joining a match after just a minute of waiting time in the lobby. However, the issue is still more prevalent than it has been in a while.
