The FFAR 1 is one of the fastest firing weapons in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 5, and with the best attachments, class, and loadout, it can become a dominant gun in your arsenal.

The FFAR 1 has felt quite lackluster, but buffs to it’s close-range damage in Season 5 have made it a formidable force to be reckoned with in Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer, and more users are coming back to the Assault Rifle. With a fast rate of fire and quick reload speeds, the FFAR 1 is perfect for aggressive AR players and is exceptional in close-mid fights.

While the FFAR 1 may not offer the huge damage at range, its handling speed, fire rate, and reload speed make it one of the best guns in Black Ops Cold War, and it’s perfectly viable with our best FFAR 1 loadout.

  • Barrel: 21.2″ Ranger
  • Optic: Microflex LED
  • Handle: Airborne Elastic Wrap
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Stock: CQB Pad

While the FFAR 1 is strongest in short to medium range gunfights, you don’t want to completely limit yourself to close-range. That’s where the 21.2″ Ranger barrel comes into play, with the added bullet velocity making your range slightly longer.

For the sight, the Microflex LED Optic is our choice, as it helps you pick off enemies at a distance without making short-range aim impossible. The Field Agent Grip is a must-have to lower horizontal and vertical recoil, while the Airborne Elastic Wrap improves ADS time.

Finally, the CQB Pad may be a surprising pick, but it’s an attachment that massively improves the mobility of the FFAR 1 — a huge asset in close-quarters combat.

Best perks to use with Cold War FFAR 1 class

  • Perk 1: Flak Jacket
  • Perk 2: Scavenger
  • Perk 3: Ninja

Flak Jacket is always useful to have, especially if you plan to be mobile with your FFAR 1, ensuring enemy explosives do less damage to you.

Scavenger is essential with this gun thanks to its high rate of fire burning through ammo. Finally, it’s always useful to sneak up on enemies and hit them with the element of surprise, so Ninja will make your footsteps quieter while you sprint.

Unlocking the FFAR 1 is pretty straightforward, as there are no challenges that need to be completed for you to get your hands on it. All you need to do is get to Level 40, and the gun will automatically unlock.

Remember, with Black Ops Cold War and Warzone now linked, any XP you earn in Warzone will count towards your overall level, so it doesn’t matter which you play.

Best alternatives

If the FFAR 1 isn’t working for you, there are some strong SMGs that are just as effective at close range, like the MP5 or LC10.

For those looking for something more suited to long-range gunfights, the Krig 6 or XM4 are perfect alternatives.
