Falck and Boris Specialists in Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042’s Beta features four Specialists, each with their own abilities and Gadgets. However, some are more effective than others, so we’re revealing the best Specialist and a ranked list.

Battlefield 2042 has changed up the original class system, instead opting for Specialists. These are playable characters with their own unique abilities and Gadgets, but they fall into the four classic roles: Assault, Engineer, Recon, and Support.

You can use any weapon with any Specialist, making for much more customizable loadouts and varying playstyles. The Beta allows players to try out the four Specialists, but it turns out that some are much more effective than others.

We’ve broken down every Specialist in Battlefield 2042’s Beta and placed them in a ranked list, revealing the best you can use.

Battlefield 2042 Specialists ranked list

Casper Recon Specialist in Battlefield 2042

Some Specialists are better than others, so we’ve ranked all of Battlefield 2042’s Beta specialists in descending order.

  1. Mackay
  2. Boris
  3. Casper
  4. Falck

4. Falck

Battlefield 2042 Falck Support specialist
  • Gadget: S21 Syrette Pistol
  • Trait: Combat Surgeon

Unfortunately, Maria Falck’s Trait and Gadget aren’t worth choosing over some of the other’s abilities. While reviving teammates to full health is a handy tool, she must still go through the lengthy revive animation, which often puts her in significant danger.

Her Syrette Pistol originally revived teammates from afar but now only heals them. Unfortunately, the original ability would have made her a much more powerful choice. But in the Beta, her abilities don’t make her a worthwhile pick, even if you plan on taking the Medic role.

3. Casper

  • Gadget: OV-P Recon Drone
  • Trait: Movement Sensor

Wikus “Casper” Van Daele is the Beta’s only Recon Specialist, but unfortunately, his OV-P Recon Drone is only useful in specific situations. While it does spot players and can fire an EMP blast, it’s not as effective as some other Specialist Gadgets available.

His Movement Sensor Trait is a little more beneficial as it will alert you to any enemies sneaking up. This is especially handy while you’re doing some long-range sniping, but you can still get picked off before it’s triggered.

2. Boris

  • Gadget: SG-36 Sentry Gun
  • Trait: Sentry Operator

Pyotr “Boris” Guskovsky is quite limited in his abilities, but they do pack a punch. Boris uses the SG-36 Sentry Gun, and his Trait allows it to spot enemies that it’s targeting. And it doesn’t only target players. It will also shoot aircraft.

There are plenty of situations where Boris’ Sentry Gun will help you out. Say you’re on an Objective, and you see a wave of incoming enemies. The Sentry will provide an excellent distraction, giving you time to reposition or fall back.

Or, say you’re holding an angle, but one side is exposed. Place the Sentry Gun and it will gun down any enemy who is unfortunate enough to cross its path.

While Boris is situational, he’s still an excellent choice when playing the objective in Battlefield 2042’s Beta.

1. Mackay

Mackay Assault specialist
  • Gadget: Grappling Hook
  • Trait: Nimble

Webster Mackay is by far the best Specialist in Battlefield 2042’s Beta – and there’s no bias here. As the Assault Specialist, his Gadget and Trait are all about infantry combat.

The Grapple Hook is convenient for quickly navigating the map and gaining the high ground. Your movement can feel limited when using any other Specialist – you’ll often find yourself wishing you had the Grapple to reach a high point quickly.

And his Nimble Trait is excellent when fighting enemies at close range. He has a much faster strafe speed than the other Specialists, making him a challenging target when moving around.

If you’re picking up the Battlefield 2042 Beta, we highly recommend beginning with Mackay. But try out all of the other Specialists to see if one suits your playstyle.
