Battlefield 2042 is on the way, and it seems players are getting hyped about popular character Irish returning from Battlefield 4.

We’ve received quite a lot of information about DICE’s upcoming release as of recent and even have been lucky enough to see some leaked gameplay.

As well as this, players were also given a look at a short film released by the developers, which showed off some of the game’s specialists, with one being a familiar face for those who played Battlefield 4.

Battlefield 2042 will not have a campaign mode. However, DICE promise that the specialists feature in the multiplayer will have backstories that players will love.

With that being said, the latest short film released by Battlefield’s YouTube gave the upcoming release some lore, as well as showing off some of the specialists we’ll be using in-game.

One of these specialists is Kimble “Irish” Graves, who was featured heavily in the Exodus short film. Irish was one of the main characters of Battlefield 4’s storyline and is now looking for revenge in 2042.

More information on the lore of Irish was given in the description of the Exodus short film on YouTube:

“Battlefield 4’s Kimble “Irish” Graves returns – no longer a Marine, but the commander of the No-Pat vessel Exodus, forced to choose between the lives of the 200 refugees on his boat and the future of all the Non-Patriated. Witness the events that will trigger an all-out war in this standalone short film set in the World of 2042.”

DICE confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will follow directly on from the events of Battlefield 4, which makes sense considering Irish’s heavy involvement in the lore of what Battlefield 2042 is calling “WWIII.”

If you’re excited for Battlefield 2042’s release on October 22, 2021, make sure you also sign up for the technical playtest to witness gameplay early.
