Although Assassin’s Creed Mirage is not open-world like its prequels, the game seems to deliver what players love about the franchise, such as stealth. But does that mean they wander through Alamut? Here’s all you need to know about entering Alamut in Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Three years after the release of AC Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is finally out, taking players to Baghdad to witness Basim’s story. With the latest installment leaving behind its once epic scale and the developers saying the game pays homage to its franchise by going back to the basics, many are wondering how much of the lore they can explore.

The Alamut Castle, as many long-term fans of the franchise may know, is a huge part of this lore, as it is the home of the Hidden Ones. The fortress has been mentioned in the prequels quite a lot of times and since AC Mirage is all about Basim’s origins in Baghdad, players are curious if they’ll get to explore the infamous Alamut Castle.

Here’s everything you need to know about exploring Alamut in Assasin’s Creed Mirage.

In the AC franchise, Alamut Castle serves as a stronghold for the Hidden Ones.

What is Alamut Castle in Assasin’s Creed Mirage?

In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Alamut Castle is the headquarters of the Assassins or the Hidden Ones who laid the foundations of the Creed. Since the game is set in the 860s, the castle is still under construction but it still plays a major role in Assasin’s Creed Mirage.

Although Alamut is referenced in AC Valhalla, AC Rogue, and appears in the Secret Crusades novel set in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the first game to directly feature it. The game takes place at the height of the Hidden Ones as an organization, and this castle represents that in terms of real-life and in-game lore.

Can you explore Alamut in Assassin’s Creed Mirage?

The historical fortress of Alamut Castle is only partially explorable in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. While the castle is a central part of the storyline in which the protagonist Basim, travels to Alamut to learn from his mentor, Roshan, the castle does not seem to be an open-world location that players can freely explore.

While this has led to mixed reactions from players with some saying it’s a missed opportunity to not let them enter the fort, many seem to be content about the game letting them traverse through the bottom of the castle which is the home base of the assassins.

Despite its limited exploration, Alamut Castle’s inclusion adds depth to the game’s historical context and enriches the overall gaming experience which many players appreciate.
