Eight years after its original release and GTA V is still going in strong, particularly its online multiplayer component.

However, like anything that requires online connectivity, GTA Online uses servers, and they don’t always work. Our guide should assist you in finding out if the servers for your chosen platform are currently in perfect working order.

Naturally, GTA Online’s servers might be overwhelmed now and again, due to how many people are playing the game.

Before you start checking your internet connection and the status of your platform’s network, first check Rockstar’s official server status update page.

The latest major outage was reported on September 23, 2021, with the GTA Online servers going down on several platforms.

How to check the status of the GTA Online servers?

If you’re desperate to keep on top of the situation so that you know when you can go back online, then we have the right place for you to check.

On Rockstar’s official website, they have their own dedicated Rockstar Service Status page that details the status of each of their major game’s online servers.

Its easy-to-use system lists the various platforms for Red Dead Online and GTA Online, in particular, and it highlights if the system is fully operational, partially operational, or unavailable at the moment.

GTA Online PS3 and Xbox 360 servers shutting down

The status page isn’t going to have to update the status of the PS3 and Xbox 360 servers for too much longer as Rockstar confirmed that they would be going offline in 2021.

“The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA Online, including website stat tracking via the Rockstar Games Social Club, will officially be shutting down on December 16, 2021. In addition, Shark Cash Cards for GTA Online will no longer be sold for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions after September 15, 2021,” Rockstar’s news post said.

So if you’re ever having an issue connecting to the GTA Online servers, then consider checking out Rockstar’s service help page for potential guidance.
