Wraith’s hitbox adjusted in Apex Legends Season 8
The Apex Legends Season 8 patch notes have been released, and they include details of how Wraith’s hitbox has been adjusted in a bid to balance the Legend.
Hitboxes have been a contentious issue in Apex Legends from the beginning. With some characters being much larger than others, they are therefore easier to hit.
Smaller legends have been given a passive perk called Low Profile. This gives these smaller Legends, such as Wraith, Lifeline, and Wattson a 5% increase to incoming damage. And the larger Legends such as Gibraltar and Caustic have damage reduced by 15% through the Fortified perk.
Respawn Entertainment’s Daniel Klein has previously said that different sized hitboxes are a “curse” on Apex Legends, but they have become a crucial part of the game.
In Apex Legends Season 8, Wraith’s hitbox has been adjusted to make her easier to it.
Wraith’s hitbox changes in Apex Legends Season 8
Wraith has long been one of the most popular Legends in the game due to the “amount of combat utility in her kit” and how difficult she is to hit.
In a bid to balance Pathfinder, developers adjusted his hitbox in Season 7 with great success. In a similar move that’s previously been teased, they have adjusted Wraith’s hitboxes in Season 8.
“Wraith now has a slightly larger hitbox than her fellow small legends, but the changes stay true to her model. As you can see in the before and after comparison, we’re adding some width mostly in the torso and leg areas.”
Respawn included an image detailing the old and new hitboxes.
The devs assured Wraith mains that “even with these changes, Wraith remains small and hard to hit.”
“She will retain Low Profile as we monitor her usage and win rates to see if power can be given back in other ways in the future.”
Apex Legends Season 8 will release on February 2, which will reveal how these adjustments affect the fan-favorite Legend.
