According to a recent social media post by the developers, the controversial decision by Respawn Entertainment to remove tap-strafing from Apex Legends has been delayed to a later patch.

Movement is one of the most important and popular mechanics in the world of Apex Legends, as the game allows for players who master it to dominate their enemies who may not be able to move around as well.

One of the biggest topics in the Apex Legends community recently was the decision by Respawn Entertainment to remove the tap-strafing mechanic from the battle royale, as Respawn felt that tap-strafing was too powerful only to be able to be used by PC players.

However, a recent announcement from Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that the planned removal of the Apex Legends tap-strafing movement mechanic will be taking place later than originally planned.

Apex Legends tap-strafing removal delayed

The developers first revealed on August 31 that it would be removing the Apex-Legends tap-strafing mechanic from the game in the 10.1 update.

This was the case until Respawn Entertainment took to its Twitter account on September 13, 2021, and revealed that the removal of tap-strafing would be delayed to a later patch for the game.

This delay was due to “unexpected side effects of our planned changes to tap-strafing,” and that the studio still plans to “address some of the most egregious use-cases of tap-strafing, but for now we are delaying our planned change to a later patch,” Respawn Entertainment stated.

“Movement is sacred in Apex. We weigh every change to these systems carefully and value feedback. After further testing, we’ve concluded we need to take more time to get this right to make sure related movement mechanics aren’t caught in the cross-fire,” Respawn concluded in its announcement of the Apex Legends tap-strafing mechanic removal being delayed.

As with the original announcement by Respawn to remove the movement mechanic, the reveal of the delay to its removal was also a mixed bag of reaction from the community, as some players were happy to see that it was not being removed as soon as originally intended.

In contrast, others were disappointed to see that it would be in the game longer than Respawn had planned.

There is no doubt that the Apex Legends tap-strafing debate will continue to be one of the game’s biggest topics going forward and will have a major impact on the battle royale’s future.
