New evidence from a Respawn Entertainment dev’s stream suggests that Apex Legends could be set to add a new weapon class to the battle royale shooter.

Apex Legends already contains a large pool of weapons, ammo types, and attachments. Now it seems that pool is set to be expanded upon as a new potential class has been spotted in a live stream showcase for the upcoming Chaos Theory Event.

During one point of the stream, observant viewers noticed a “Marksman” tag underneath the 3x HCOG ‘Ranger’ optic. There have been rumors and murmurs about the devs looking to introduce a whole new class to the game that separates itself from anything else, and this could indicate that.

The roster of different weapons in Apex Legends includes: Assault Rifles, Submachine Guns, Light Machine Guns, Shotguns, Pistols, and Sniper Rifles. It’s about as standard and as-to-be-expected as classes come in an FPS game.

However, a new Marksman class seems like it will bridge the gap between Sniper Rifles and any other weapon. It’s also not the first time that the devs have discussed the possibility of new gear, as they recently addressed the possibility of Titanfall weapons coming to Apex Legends.

If you skip ahead to 21:34 in the dev stream video, you will be able to take a glimpse of the possible new class yourself.

It’s unclear whether or not this was intentional and Respawn Entertainment intended for players to see the Marksman label or not.

The sighting has gained some momentum now as Reddit user Redminn19 was also tuned into the stream, posting the evidence for all to see.

Given that we’re already so far into Apex Legends Season 8, it’s probably safe to assume that we won’t be seeing the Marksman class anytime soon.

It’s likely Respawn has enough on their plate at the moment with testing for the Nintendo Switch version going on.
