Respawn are planning something mischievous for April Fools in Apex Legends which might have players feeling more than just surprised.

Apex Legends has received quite a bit of new content in March, including the Warriors Collection Event, which brought a new Arenas map, the return of Control, and Crypto’s Heirloom.

As well as all this, we also got the next-gen versions of the battle royale, however, they haven’t received the best reviews from fans so far. In order to brighten the mood, it seems the devs have some pretty interesting April Fools plans.

Last year’s April Fools brought interesting changes such as a Gold Mozambique and P2020, as well as an abundance of loot drones and more damage on ziplines.

It seems this year we might be getting another April Fools update, as Respawn dev Josh Medina confirmed on Twitter.

According to dataminers and leakers, April 1, 2022 could bring an April Fools surprise to Apex Legends Season 12 that includes a strong Nessie theme, as well as the code also alluding to Storm Point‘s spiders.

Biast12 shared code that referred to spiders and a Nessie gun, as well as “projectile effects” associated with the spiders, calling the devs “evil.”

One thing is for sure, if you have a phobia of spiders, maybe avoid Apex on April 1.

Thanks to Apex Legends dataminer Shrugtal, we also know that players could be getting a new account badge called “April Fools,” which shows Nessie in a jester’s hat.

The description says “don’t believe everything you see today!.” Perhaps Respawn have plans to put things in-game that will shock players, like a giant spider or Nessie.

Well there you have it, expect the unexpected for April Fools in Apex Legends, as the devs have some pretty conniving plans up their sleeve.
