An Apex Legends dev has explained why they do not want to add an “anti-scan” Legend to the roster, despite receiving countless requests.

Apex Legends features 21 different characters for you to choose from and some of these Legends come with scan abilities that allow them to quickly find their enemies’ locations on the map.

This has caused players to call for Respawn Entertainment to add a new character with the ability to counter these scans. Now, the developers have explained why they have no plans to bring an “anti-scan” character to the game.

On July 9, one Apex Legends player asked Live Balance Designer John ‘JayBiebs’ Larson on Twitter if Respawn will ever add a character that is capable of hiding from enemy players’ scans.

JayBiebs then explained that the developers are “not thrilled with the idea of an anti-scan Legend” since in a scan meta, players would only pick that specific character, and this would “limit options.”

However, the dev then added that Respawn Entertainment are open to exploring “Legend agnostic options” in order to balance the scan meta in Apex Legends. So, we could see some changes in a future update.

At the time of writing, JayBiebs didn’t provide any more details about when exactly these balancing updates are set to arrive in Apex Legends. We might see them implemented in Season 14.

Until these changes are added to the game, Apex Legends players will need to keep an eye out for Legends like Bloodhound and Seer who can use their scanning abilities to track their targets.
