Apex Legends have released a trailer containing new gameplay of Valkyrie, showing off her abilities and even teasing some of the new Arena maps.

In light of the new Apex Legends season, Legacy, Respawn Entertainment has finally revealed gameplay of Valkyrie’s abilities and some details on her background, and even new clips of the Arena maps.

Even though the video is short, it answers many players’ queries surrounding the limitations of her abilities and how players will be using her.

Apex Legends Valkyrie trailer

As fans found out in the Northstar Stories of the Outlands short, Valkyrie, or Kairi Imahara, is the 30-year-old daughter of famous Apex Predator pilot, Viper. Her new character trailer shows off what her dad’s altered Northstar Titan jetpack can do.

Valkyrie abilities

  • Passive: VTOL Jets – Press Jump while in the air to engage jetpack. You can switch between hold and toggle in the options menu.
  • Tactical: Missile Swarm – Fire a swarm of mini-rockets that damage and disorient the enemy.
  • Ultimate: Skyward Dive – Press once to prepare for launch. Teammates can interact with Valkyrie to join the launch. Press again to launch into the air and skydive.

Apex Legends Valkyrie VTOL Jets

VTOL Jets

In the character trailer, the VTOL Jets are shown, and it seems they will limit how much you can do while they are active. While Valkyrie is hovering, an animation is shown whereby her hands are occupied controlling the jets.

During this animation, it seems Valkyrie is unable to shoot or throw grenades. However, as soon as Valkyrie lets go of her jets and the player begins falling, there is a chance to pull your gun out and fire.

During this sequence where Valkyrie’s VTOL Jets are in action, the video shows her dodging Gibraltar’s ultimate, showing how useful her passive will be in countering area of damage ultimates like the Defensive Bombardment, Fuse’s Motherlode, and Bangalore’s Rolling Thunder.

Apex legends Valkyrie Missile Swarm

Missile Swarm

The Missile Swarm is then shown next, presenting the most effective ways to use it. Firstly, Valkyrie is shown flying towards Rampart, who has her shields up and Shiela placed.

Usually, Rampart is difficult to deal with when she has her shields set up. However, Valkyrie glides over, places the Missile Swarm on the barricaded Rampart, giving her enough time to swoop in and get over the shields.

The Missile Swarm is then shown again towards the end of the video, where Valkyrie uses it mid-air. The Missile Swarm is the only exception to Valkyrie’s VTOL Jets as she can place and fire it at the same time as hovering.

Valkyrie hovers above Fuse in the trailer, uses the Missile Swarm to stun him, and finishes him with a well-placed Bocek Bow shot while falling from the sky after deactivating her jets. It seems her Missile Swarm will be used more like a stun than damage ability, giving Valkyrie time to get off her shots.

Apex Legends Valkyrie Skyward Dive

Apex Legends Valyrie Skyward Dive

Skyward Dive is Valkyrie’s ultimate ability that allows her and the squad to fly up and rotate much like a redeploy balloon.

The trailer showed players what to expect from the ultimate in terms of animations and the situations in which Valkyrie can use it.

Skyward Dive can be used aggressively or defensively. Whether you are in a sticky situation or you need to hunt someone down, use the ultimate to fly up and redeploy to a different position.

As well as all of this we also got to see some further details of the new Arena maps and Infested Olympus.

Check out the trailer for yourself to see the abilities of Valkyrie in action and also get a sneak peek at the upcoming maps in Apex Legends Legacy.
