All weapon upgrade locations in Fortnite Season 5

Nicholas Sakadelis

Fortnite Season 5 removed Upgrade Benches but added in NPC’s that can upgrade your weapons for a price.

When Season 5 launched, Epic removed the Upgrade Benches from the map, instead opting for an upgrade system centered around NPC’s. You’ll be able to find these “merchants” across the map, which take the new gold currency. Gold can be obtained through doing quests, bounties, and by finding it in chests or safes.

Unfortunately, not all of the map NPC’s can upgrade your weapons and are low in availability compared to the previous Upgrade Benches.

The good news is that you’ll save a ton on materials you normally would have used for weapon upgrades, meaning you’ll be ready for any fight that comes your way.

If you’re planning on locating an NPC on your own, you may not have much luck considering how few upgrade NPCs exist.

To help, we’ve created a map using Fortnite.gg to show all of the possible spawn locations for the NPC’s that offer weapon upgrades.

You can see on the map below that some NPC’s travel around, like Spark Plug. She can spawn at Weeping Woods, Lazy Lake, or the gas station by Misty Meadows. NPC’s like Brutus and The Reaper will spawn at the same spot each game.

Each NPC will have the same prices for weapon upgrades, which are as follows.

  • Common to Uncommon: 50 Gold
  • Uncommon to Rare: 150 Gold
  • Rare to Epic: 250 Gold
  • Epic to Legendary: 350 Gold

Keep in mind that gold does carry over after your matches. Be sure to remember the price of upgrades, so you don’t find yourself low on gold and in need of an upgrade.

Feel free to save the map above to your mobile device, so you never forget where any of the vendors are!
