Dragapult in a Pokemon Sword and Shield background

Dragapult can be a tough challenge to face in any Pokemon game, even for dragon tamers. We’ll cover everything there is to know about its weaknesses and resistances to beat and catch it.

Since its first appearance in Pokemon Sword and Shield, Dragapult has received equal parts love and hate from Pokemon players. Its design and typing make it very unique and interesting, which also means it can be very hard to beat if unprepared.

Dragon types are always reserved for the last stages of any mainline Pokemon game, so a challenge is always expected. We’ll cover everything there is to know about Dragapult’s weaknesses, many resistances, and immunities.

What Pokemon type is Dragapult?

Dragapult is a dual Dragon and Ghost-type Pokemon, just like Dreepy and Drakloak. You may have noticed that this type combination is reserved for very strong Pokemon since the only one that shares it is none other than Giratina.

Dragapult was voted the most popular Gen 8 Pokemon in an official poll.

All Dragapult weaknesses in Pokemon

As a dual Dragon and Ghost-type Pokemon, Dragapult is weak against Dragon, Ghost, Dark, Ice, and Fairy-type attacks.

Many players like to fight Dragon with Dragon and Ghost with Ghost for an exciting and risky battle, but if you want to be safe, you can rely on Dark, Ice, and Fairy-type Pokemon.

All Dragapult resistances in Pokemon

Dragapult’s Dragon and Ghost type combination means it can resist the following types of moves:

  • Poison
  • Bug
  • Fire
  • Water
  • Grass
  • Electric

What’s more, Dragapult is immune to Normal and Fighting-type moves, reducing the possibilities even more. In mainline games like Pokemon Sword and Shield, Dragapult can also learn moves from various types, which means no Pokemon is safe from its attacks.

Regarding its Abilities, Clear Body makes Dragapult immune to attacks that lower its stats. Additionally, when a move hits Dragapult, the move has a 30% chance of getting disabled thanks to the Cursed Body Hidden Ability.

Luckily for players, Dragapult’s Defense and Sp. Defense are its lowest stats, so sticking to super-effective damage with STAB should help defeat it with ease.
